About Samburu Sopa Lodge
Samburu Sopa Lodge is built on raised ground, giving it panoramic views of the distant Samburu Hills on one side and Mt Kenya on the other. The lodge is designed in rich earth colours and decorated with local artefacts. The lodge overlooks a waterhole which attracts plentiful animal and birdlife.
There are 30 cottages, designed in a buffalo horn, converging at the public areas in the centre. Each cottage has 2 en-suite bedrooms with 2 queen size beds and private veranda. The 2 rooms nearest to the reception have been designed for guests with disabilities. The lobby, the bar and the rooms overlook the waterhole.
The dining room, also overlooking the waterhole, serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Theme dinners, such as coastal buffet, African buffet and gala dinner, are served weekly. The furniture has been uniquely carved, and the chairs have a backrest shaped like a buffalo horn. Local stones and other materials are displayed. The lodge also has a gift shop and a swimming pool surrounded by sunbathing deck.
Activities include guided nature walks and bird watching. Cultural visits to local Samburu villages and Samburu cultural talks are also on offer. Bush meals and sundowners can be arranged. Samburu Sopa Lodge has a bronze award from Ecotourism Kenya.
