About Entumoto

Entumoto, meaning meeting place in the language of the Maasai, was established in 2010. The camp was founded by Karl von Heland, the grandson of Karen Blixen’s farm manager, and is part owned by the local Maasai community.

There are 5 en-suite double tents and 4 family tents. The tents are made from multi-layered canvas, are attractively furnished with daybeds and have verandas with views of the plains. The family tents have a double room, twin room and living room with open fireplace. Meals are created from produce from the camp’s own garden. The camp has a swimming pool; snacks and drinks are served at the poolside. The lounge has a library; the bar is well stocked with soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits. Activities include game drives and game walks. Maasai guides are happy to introduce guests to the indigenous plants that make their traditional medicine, and to show them how to track animals. Cultural visits to local Maasai villages are on offer.

Entumoto holds a bronze award from Ecotourism Kenya. Guests are also welcome to visit the environmental projects that the camp supports. Weddings and functions can be arranged. The camp can be taken exclusively. Holistic yoga retreats, artistic programmes and creative writing workshops can all be arranged.
