About Keekorok Lodge

Keekorok was constructed in 1962 on an 80-acre site in an area of permanent springs and lush grassland. One of the first lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Keekorok is located in the centre of this famous reserve.

The lodge has 89 double rooms, 8 superior rooms and 4 suites, all of which are en-suite. Accommodation is in stone bungalows with private balconies. Most rooms overlook the reserve and the remainder look into a large garden. The lodge was fully refurbished in 2006.

The restaurant looks out on manicured lawns and a rock garden, and serves a variety of traditional African, Asian and Western food. The Discovery Bar reflects Keekorok’s long history and features photos of its illustrious clientele. The Swimming Pool Bar serves refreshments throughout the day. The Hippo Pool Bar, connected to the lodge by a 1km wooden walkway, looks over a waterhole that is home to about 20 hippos.

Game drives can be booked in advance or on arrival at the lodge. They leave the lodge at 6.30am, 9.30am and 4.30pm. Bird walks start at 10am every day. Evening entertainment alternates between Maasai dancing and wildlife videos. The conference hall seats up to 100 pax.

Keekorok Lodge holds Ecotourism Kenya’s bronze award.
