About Roberts Camp, Baringo

Roberts’ Camp is set in beautiful gardens on the lake, with views of the dramatic cliffs and plateaus that surround it. This friendly camp offers cottages, bandas, tents and a campsite, and an abundance of activities. The area is home to 450 species of birds, as well as hippos and crocodiles. Coots Cottage, in its own private garden, has 3 double rooms. Hammerkop’s Roost, on the lakefront, has 2 double rooms. Little Egret, on the lakefront, has 2 double rooms. Heron House, on the lakefront, has 1 double room, 2 twin rooms and 1 triple room. All cottages have attractive décor, fully equipped kitchen, furnished sitting room and large veranda.

Weaver, Spoonbill and Stork bandas each have a twin room. They share bathroom facilities, fully equipped kitchen and dining area with barbecue. Coots banda, adjacent to Coots Cottage, has double and single bed. There are also 4 safari tents, made up of 1 en-suite and 3 with communal bathroom facilities. The Thirsty Goat serves local and international cuisine, and has an extensive drinks list. Dik Dik Duka stocks gift items. Activities include nature walks, bird walks, day trips to Tugen Hills, cultural visits to Pokot villages, boat trips and island cruises. Ornathologists and guides are resident at the camp. Vehicles are available for hire. Roberts’ Camp supports a number of community and conservation projects, including Ruko Community Wildlife Trust.

Sister lodge, the exclusive Samatian Island Lodge, lies on a private island in Lake Baringo and looks across

the bronze waters of the lake to the Laikipia Escarpment.
