About Elephant Pepper Camp

Named after the Warburgia Ugandensis, commonly known as the Elephant Pepper Tree, this elegant bush camp maintains the atmosphere of the traditional mobile luxury safari. Nestled in a grove of Ebony and Elephant Pepper trees, the camp is situated in Mara North Conservancy. It looks out over the Mara plains which support a vast concentration of game all year round, and at certain times of year includes the annual wildebeest and zebra migration.

The luxury camp was extensively refurbished in 2014. The 8 double tents and 2 honeymoon or family tents all have en-suite bathrooms and verandas with a view of the game-rich plains, and are adorned with elegant Indian Raj furniture. Meals are candlelit and served family style. Service is personal and activities can be arranged to suit the wishes of the guests. A holder of the prestigious Ecotourism Kenya gold award, the camp implements eco-friendly systems of recycling and waste disposal. It can be completely dismantled, leaving no trace on the precious ecosystem of the Mara. There are no generators or cement or permanent structures. The camp assists the local Maasai communities with a number of wildlife and conservation projects and works closely with a local school. The local Maasai community make up 80% of the camp staff. In October 2005, Elephant Pepper Camp was included in Travel Weekly Magazine’s Five of the Best as an authentic camping experience.
