About Lamu House

In charming Swahili architecture, Lamu House is an elegant fusion of traditional style and modern facilities. The house faces directly onto Lamu seafront, and is made up of 2 restored houses surrounding a central courtyard with swimming pool.

There are 10 en-suite rooms, made up of 4 singles and 6 doubles. One wing of the hotel, made up of 5 rooms including the rooftop superior suite, can be rented as a private house, and comes with private plunge pool and courtyard. The rooms are individually designed, and all are equipped with spacious bathroom, dressing room, WiFi and private terrace. Moonrise Restaurant serves international cuisine, including spicy ginger crab casserole baked in its shell, tuna carpaccio, T-bone steak, chicken and banana curry and frozen chocolate mousse with passion topping. The fully stocked bar serves cocktails such as Manda Island, Frozen Daquiri and Tequila Sunrise.

Body Wave Spa, on the rooftop, offers aromatherapy massage, reflexology, facial, manicure and pedicure. Lamu House has 2 traditional Swahili dhows, each comfortably seating 10 pax and available for short or full day excursions. Other activities include tours of the Old Town, museums and dhow shipyard. Panoramic flights, scuba diving and deep sea fishing can also be arranged.

Lamu House is affiliated to a beach bar and restaurant across the channel on Manda Island.
