About Elsa’s Kopje

Named after Elsa the lioness of Born Free fame, Elsa’s Kopje is on the site of George Adamson’s first campsite. The lodge offers stunning panoramic views over Meru’s forested slopes, that combine lush springs and riverine woodland with arid areas dotted with giant baobabs and doum palms. Rare species of game include Beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and lesser kudu. Meru National Park incorporates a 44kmÇ rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 white rhino and 20 black rhino.

Elsa’s Kopje has 8 en-suite, open plan designer cottages, made up of 7 doubles and 1 twin. All cottages offer complete privacy and striking views. The central dining area has an award-winning infinity pool overlooking the Meru plains.

Elsa’s Private House is a spacious, stylish hideaway set slightly apart from the main lodge. It has 2 en-suite bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin, a large private living and dining area, a private garden and a swimming pool. Elsa’s Honeymoon Suite is a triple level cottage, with a sitting room and en-suite double bedroom.

Ecotourism Kenya has given Elsa’s Kopje a gold award. Highly qualified guides offer day and night game drives, game walks and trips to the Tana River. Elsa’s Kopje was voted the Best Safari Camp in East Africa by The Good Safari Guide 2009.
