Mutamaiyu House is located on the 22,000-acre Mugie Wildlife Conservancy. The conservancy was formed in 2004, and has contributed to the campaign for the preservation of the endangered black rhino. It is also one of the core study areas of the Laikipia Predator Project, a project aimed at promoting coexistence between livestock and predators. There are 4 cottages, 2 with en-suite double bedroom and 2 with en-suite twin bedroom. The cottages are built to maximize the view. The cottages are equipped with charging facilities and WiFi. The family-run manor house has private lounges with fireplaces, and is adorned with family heirlooms and art collection. Meals are served in the extended dining room. There is also a heated swimming pool.
Activities include day and night game drives, lion tracking, game walks, camel trekking, fishing and daily ranch life. Visits to the Mugie Rhino Sanctuary, the weekly market in Suguta Marmar and Mugie School, supported by Mugie Wildlife Conservancy, are on offer. An introduction to the Pokot and Samburu traditional ways of life is also available. For an extra charge, clay pigeon shooting, visits to a local village and a day trip to Porro Maralal, the Roof of the World are on offer. Mutamaiyu House is closed in January and June.
