About Shela, Palm, Garden, and Beach Houses

A spacious house with great character, Shela House centres on an open courtyard, the well and an ancient gardenia. The courtyard is framed by seating and dining areas. The house is furnished with traditional Lamu furniture and adorned with local artefacts.

There are 5 en-suite rooms, made up of 3 doubles, a twin and a single. There is also a nursery. The 2nd floor has a sitting room and balcony, while the 2 rooftops have comfortable seats and striking views.


A striking Swahili style house, Palm House centres on an open courtyard, with a side garden. The house is whitewashed, with a thatched roof, furnished with traditional Lamu furniture and adorned with local artefacts. There are 3 en-suite doubles and 1 en-suite twin. The dining and living areas, on the ground floor, open onto the terrace. The 1st floor houses 2 doubles and a twin, all with private balconies; the 2nd floor houses the master bedroom. The rooftop has a bar, sunbeds and comfortable baraza seating.


Garden House is situated on the edge of Shela Village, near the sand dunes that fringe the village. At the corner of a walled garden, this graceful house is shaded by neem trees that attract plentiful birdlife. The house is furnished with traditional Lamu furniture and adorned with local artefacts.

There are 2 en-suite double rooms and 1 en-suite twin. The ground floor has a dining room and seating area, and the rooftop has comfortable baraza seats and sunbeds.


Beach House is an elegant whitewashed house overlooking the seafront. Its spacious terraces and shaded rooftop provide spectacular views across the Lamu channel, and its chic interior is ideal for relaxation.

There are 5 en-suite rooms, made up of 4 doubles and 1 triple. On the 1st floor, raised above the beach, is an infinity pool, with a bar area and comfortable baraza seats. On the 2nd floor, a large dining and living room opens onto a terrace. The rooftop has panoramic views of the Lamu channel and Manda Island.
