Framed by a curve of the Mara River, the Fairmont Mara Safari Club is a tented sanctuary on the edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The club opened in 1989 on the site of an old hunting camp that had been converted to photo safari after the hunting ban. It stands on 100 acres of land, leased from the late Senior Chief Lerionka Ole Ntutu.
The 51 luxury tents are made up of 35 Fairmont tents with queen beds, 9 Fairmont deluxe tents with 2 queen beds and 6 Signature tents with an additional outdoor shower and a more removed location for privacy. All the tents have en-suite bathrooms with porcelain features and walk-in shower, Mazara stone floors and a private deck with a unique view of the hippos in the Mara River below. 1 tent is equipped for guests with disabilities.
The main lodge at the center of camp has an indoor restaurant and bar. A library and information centre with internet access can also be used for conferences. A spacious outside deck overhangs the river and leads to a heated pool, complete with bar and private massage tents.
The boma, a structure influenced by traditional homesteads, gives guests the opportunity to enjoy a cultural dinner reflecting African cuisine and accompanied by rich musical accompaniment.
Activities include game drives, game walks, bird watching and cultural visits to Maasai villages.
