About Mara Simba Lodge

Mara Simba Lodge overlooks a dramatic bend of the Talek River. The lodge’s grounds stretch along the river, and its landscaped gardens are filled with indigenous trees that are home to a variety of birds and butterflies. The lodge was designed to complement its surroundings and is decorated in traditional Maasai style.

There are 84 en-suite rooms, 6 rooms in each stone banda. They are made up of 60 twins, 12 doubles, 4 double and single and 8 triples. Each room has a private veranda with a view of the river. The public area, overlooking the Talek River, has floors of cedar wood decking elevated on timber posts, and thatched roofs. The dining area and the bar each have stone fireplaces; the terrace offers floodlit viewing at night. The gift shop stocks personal, photographic and souvenir items. There is also a swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds.

Activities are charged extra and include game drives and game walks. Bush meals and sundowners are available. The lodge’s naturalist gives talks on the wildlife and ecology of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, as well as offering slideshows and Maasai cultural lectures. Mara Simba Lodge is keen to conserve the environment, and has installed a sewage treatment plant that provides water for irrigation.
