About Saruni Samburu

Perched on a rocky outcrop, Saruni Samburu provides a spectacular view of the snowy peaks of Mt Kenya, sacred mountain Ololokwe and the vast savannah. Set in a private 95,000-hectare conservancy bordering Samburu National Reserve, Saruni is a design lodge that offers exclusivity, comfort and tailor-made service.

Saruni has two spacious en-suite houses, 1 double and 1 twin, each with its own open plan seating and dining area and veranda. It also has two spacious family houses, each with 2 en-suite bedrooms, private seating and dining area and veranda. Samburu Wellbeing Space provides massage and spa treatments. Saruni’s waterhole attracts the northern reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, oryx and kudu as well as the more widespread elephants, dik diks and leopards.

The Samburu guides, all members of the local community, are ready to share their knowledge of indigenous species, ancient rock art and local traditions. Game drives include Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and Westgate Conservancy. Saruni’s Warrior for a Week programme gives guests the opportunity to learn the survival skills of the Samburu warriors, including tracking animals and bush craft. Drawing safaris are also offered for guests wishing to spend a few days painting in spectacular scenery with a professional artist. Saruni Samburu has attained Ecotourism Kenya’s silver award.
