About Mzima

With a name that means embodied perfection in Swahili, Mzima offers luxury, wellness and balanced living. Mzima was established in 2011 and combines coastal architecture with that of ancient Rome. The resort faces directly onto Galu Beach, and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and a swimming pool. There are 5 en-suite double rooms. The rooms are adorned with Asian and Swahili handcrafted furniture and equipped with aircon and WiFi. Frangipani Cottage is a self-catering cottage, with a double and twin room, bathroom, living room with satellite TV, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and veranda. The cottage also has a plunge pool and barbecue area.

The resort serves a fusion of local and continental cuisine. Breakfast and lunch are made up of fresh, healthy dishes and dinner is table d’hote specialising in fish and seafood. The spa offers massage, manicure, pedicure, aromatherapy and reflexology. The main house has a reading room with flat screen satellite TV and DVD.

Activities include zumba, yoga, water aerobics, bicycling to Kaya Forest and sundowners. Water sports include kite surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, dhow cruises, horse riding and boat trips to Funzi Island and Wasini Island. Participation in local community projects and visits to local schools, villages and trading centres can be arranged.
