Tsavo Safari Camp nestles between the Athi Galana River and the Yatta Plateau. The only camp in a vast wilderness area of Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo Safari Camp has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Arrival at the camp - by boat across the river - sets the scene for this attractive, remote and unique camp. There are 15 en-suite tents, which can be double, twin or triple as required. All tents are furnished with table, chair and mosquito net, and have a veranda with a view of the river. The appealing bathrooms are open to the sky giving lovely views of baobabs from the showers. The restaurant has an a la carte menu, and serves fresh and tasty cuisine. There is also a swimming pool with sweeping sunbathing terrace.
Day and night game drives and bush walks can be arranged with the camp’s guides or with Kenya Wildlife Service rangers. Boat trips on the Athi Galana River and cultural visits to local villages are available. Bush breakfasts and dinners are on offer; sundowners at a private spot on the top of the Yatta Plateau can be arranged. Tsavo East National Park has a wide variety of wildlife, and about 500 species of birds. Highlights of the park include Lugard’s Falls, the Athi Galana River, Mudanda Rock and the Yatta Plateau, Africa’s longest lava flow. Further afield, Taita Hills and Sagalla Hills are worth a visit, as are Mzima Springs in Tsavo West National Park.
