Ol Donyo Wuas, in 275,000-acre Mbirikani Maasai Group Ranch on the slopes of the Chyulu Hills National Park, has stunning views of Mt Kilimanjaro. In the path of traditional wildlife migration routes, the lodge is ideally situated to view the abundant wildlife.
The lodge was built in the 1980s and elegantly redesigned in 2008. There are 10 expansive guest suites in 6 villas. Each villa is unique, with opulent décor, high thatched roofs, natural stone walls and private swimming pools. Each suite has a rooftop star bed, sitting room, indoor and outdoor showers and a veranda. The 4-bed villas suit families or friends, and come complete with private vehicle, guide and chef.
As well as day and night game drives and game walks, Ol Donyo Wuas offers an exciting selection of activities. Horse safaris for advanced and novice riders, mountain biking and tracking with bloodhounds are all on offer. An open air log-jam gives guests the chance to view elephants close up. The lodge also organises sleep-outs on the Kopjes at Seduction Rock and fly camping.
The lodge’s community outreach programme, managed through Maasailand Preservation Trust, initiates conservation projects including Predator Compensation Fund, Environmental Scouts, Lion Guardians, water management and reforestation.
