About Tassia

Tassia, perched on the edge of the Mokogodo Escarpment, offers spectacular views across northern Kenya and the scared Lolokwe Mountain. The lodge was built for the Mokogodo Maasai, and aims for a symbiotic relationship between community and conservation. It combines tranquil beauty with adventure and excitement.

Tassia has distinctive Maasai architecture. There are 6 en-suite rooms, all with striking views. The open plan sitting and dinning area overlooks the natural rock swimming pool. Meals can be served in the dining room, by the pool or in the guests’ room. No trees were cut down during the construction of the lodge, which was built using local low impact materials.

The lodge uses solar power and energy-saving hot water heaters and has been given a bronze award by Ecotourism Society of Kenya. The lodge staff are all members of the Lkurruki community.

Activities include a selection of walks, such as hiking along dry riverbeds and climbing Mt. Lossos. When the rivers are flowing, attractive waterfalls and plunge pools provide opportunity for swimming. Game drives are also on offer. Mokogodo Forest has a diverse population of wildlife, butterflies, birds, plants and trees. Wild dog, giraffe, impala, gerenuk and kudu can be seen during the day. Leoparrd, genet, civet and caracal can sometimes be seen in the evening.
