About Delta Dunes Lodge

Perched on top of rolling sand dunes, Delta Dunes Lodge has panoramic views of the Tana River Delta and the Indian Ocean. The only wetland of its type in East Africa, the area provides unique birdlife, aquatic life and wildlife.

There are 7 elegant en-suite cottages, built from driftwood, mangrove poles and thatch and shaded by doum palms, baobabs and tamarind trees. Raised on wooden platforms, the cottages are completely open, with spectacular views. The family cottage accommodates 4 people. Dining is alfresco, and includes fresh seafood, tropical fruits and other gourmet delicacies. The swimming pool lies high on the dunes; its sunbathing terrace has panoramic views.

The enticing combination of beach, river and bush provides guests with a wide selection of activities. Game and bird viewing by boat, walking safaris, creek fishing, water-skiing, surfing, river tubing, sand yachting and cultural visits to Orma villages are but a few of the activities on offer. The lodge works closely with the local community and aims to improve their standard of living, education, employment and medical facilities. A 150,000-acre conservancy is being set aside for the community, to be owned and managed by them with the support of the lodge. The lodge is closed from 1st June to 15th July.
