Sandai Homestay and Cottages are on a farm near the Aberdare National Park. The comfortable farmhouse is surrounded by indigenous flora and interesting animals, and offers a homely and relaxing atmosphere, and a range of activities.
There are 2 double rooms with shared bathroom in the main farmhouse. There are also 4 en-suite double rooms in the 2 guesthouses. The farmhouse has a living room with open fireplace, and a dining room where all meals are served. Electricity is supplied by generator and solar power. Horse riding for beginners and advanced riders is offered on the farm. Trips can be for half a day, or for multiple days, including camping. Yoga retreats, permaculture courses and art workshops are offered regularly.
Guided bird watching is recommended; 160 species of birds have been recorded here, including the rare spotted creeper, African grass owl and little rock thrush. For a surcharge, game drives are offered in Aberdare National Park, Solio Ranch, Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Lake Nakuru National Park. Sandai also offers shopping trips to Nyeri, with visits to Baden Powell Museum at the Outspan Hotel. Excursions to Nairobi can be arranged, with visits to National Museum, Karen Blixen Museum, Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Centre. Sandai also offers personalised safaris to destinations around Kenya, and group trips for individuals travelling on their own.
