About Hob House

The name Hob was chosen because it means love in Arabic and infers the centre of the home in English. The welcoming house has quirky handmade furniture, books on the wall, comfortable sofas and plenty of alcoves and secluded spaces, while the spacious garden is filled with colourful flowers and tropical trees.

There are six en-suite double rooms, each individually designed with locally crafted furniture, interesting artwork and hand stitched fabrics. The restaurant, which is open to all regardless of whether they’re staying at Hob House, serves Levantine cuisine, and chef Kelly’s cooking has been compared to Ottolenghi. The dishes are predominantly vegetarian, with a few meat and fish dishes, and the ingredients are grown organically on site or sourced locally. No alcohol is served, but guests are welcome to bring their own.

The tent is available for private functions and also hosts yoga classes and retreats. Yoga Wellness for Africa, which teaches yoga to poorer women and women prisoners, offers yoga sessions. The house also supports the local community and has a programme teaching children about their identity and values. Founders Kelly and Peter opened Hob House in 2015 with the aim to promote intercultural exchanges, tasty food and healthy living.
