Basecamp Wilderness is an eco-friendly camp in Naboisho Conservancy bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The camp is owned and managed by Basecamp, a luxury eco-friendly camp near Talek Gate. Basecamp Foundation supports and cooperates with local communities, as well as developing and promoting Basecamp’s sustainable tourism concept.
The 5 double tents each has a separate eco-bathroom with bio-flush loo and safari shower, and an outside seating area with views of the savannah. Mobile solar lights light the tents and kerosene lanterns light the paths. Meals are served in the dining tent or under the stars. Dishes are prepared using, as much as possible, fresh ingredients from Basecamp’s vegetable garden. The bar is well stocked with soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits.
Activities include day and night game drives, game walks and cultural visits to local Maasai villages. Bush meals and sundowners can be arranged. Full day game walks in the Naboisho Conservancy are available. Cultural talks from local Maasai on their traditions and lifestyle are available. Basecamp holds a gold award from Ecotourism Society of Kenya, and has won the WTM First Choice Responsible Tourism Award, SKAL International Ecotourism Award and Tourism for the Future Award.
