About Ekorian’s Mugie Camp

The only camp in the 50,000-acre game-rich Mugie Conservancy, Ekorian’s Mugie Camp is a friendly family-style camp.

The 6 en-suite tents are raised on wooden decks and shaded by thatched roofs; one has a kids’ annex intended for families. The mess tent is adorned with African artefacts and locally crafted furniture. The swimming pool is surrounded by a spacious deck that overlooks the waterhole. The lawns are dotted with indigenous plants and enclosed by an electric fence to prevent animals from wandering through. The cuisine is created from local produce and served in the mess tent, by the pool or in the bush.

Activities include wildlife and bird viewing, kayaking and fishing on Mugie dam, playing golf and riding camels. Visitors are welcome to participate in conservation activities including tracking the anti-poaching blood hounds, visiting the local school and women’s outreach clinic, and attending the trading stock cattle programme. Activities in camp include volleyball, archery and trampolining. The camp has been awarded Ecotourism Kenya’s impressive silver award; eco-policies include collecting rainwater, using solar power, recycling glass and using eco-friendly bathroom products. The Moyo Foundation works with Ekorian and Mugie on conservation, healthcare and education projects. Mugie also supports the charity Pack for a Purpose.
