About Ashnil Aruba

The lodge takes its name from the Aruba Dam, constructed in 1952, a watery oasis that forms an irresistible attraction to the game in the dry Tsavo East National Park. Ashnil Aruba Lodge sits in landscaped gardens on an advantageous watering site overlooking the Aruba dam, its viewing decks offering views of the striking scenery.

The 46 en-suite deluxe rooms, made up of doubles, twins and triples, all have terraces overlooking the plains or the Aruba dam. Some are inter- connecting, and some have facilities for the less mobile. There are also 6 en-suite tents, each with a view of the dam. The dam provides a beautiful setting for a bush breakfast or sundowner, while the pool is the venue for evening barbecues.

Tsavo East National Park is noted for the rare Hirola and the pancake tortoise. Game drives are done in the visitors’ own cars. Ashnil Aruba Lodge recommends trips to the Voi Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery where the caretaker is happy to guide guests through the graves and explain the history around each. Other nearby places of interest include Lugards Falls and the Athi Galana River, the Buffalo Wallows and Tsavo River Railway Station, infamous site of the man eaters of Tsavo.
