About Tandala and The Candle House

The Roberts family’s lovely bush house is located between Nairobi and Amboseli. The house, taken exclusively, has dark wooden floors, exposed timber beams and warming log fires. The house and its verandas look out over a waterhole; the garden has flower lined paths and lily filled ponds.

The house has 5 bedrooms, 3 with their own bathrooms and 2 sharing a bathroom. Some bedrooms have their own fireplaces; a travel cot is available for a baby. A team of staff cares for the house and its guests. The house can be taken on a self-catering basis; a chef is available if required and can provide meals created from homegrown fruit and vegetables. The swimming pool has pool house and sunbathing deck. Nearby activities include visits to Amboseli National Park, known for large herds of elephants and striking views of Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro.

The Candle House is on the same property. After buying honey from the local Pokot people for many years, the family had large amounts of beeswax. Inspired by African landscapes and a belief in conservation and recycling, The Candle House has become the foremost maker of luxury candles in East Africa.
