On the southern tip of Lamu Island, The Cabanas are tucked into palm trees on a secluded beach.
The 6 cabanas are named in the Hawaiian language. Ohana was once the family home; Makai is closest to the sea; Malama is at the heart of the cabanas; Moana has striking ocean views; Lokahi is the honeymoon suite; and Aloha is built of local casuarina trees. Although their designs are different, all cabanas have large double bed, en-suite bathroom and balcony. They are built of coral, wood and palm thatch, and are all completely private. The menu includes Indian, Japanese, Chinese, British, Swahili, Mexican and Italian cuisines, with vegetarian and vegan options. The in-house nutritionist can adjust the menu for any diet. The Cabanas were built using natural and local materials; they are powered by wind and solar, and use little or no plastic and chemicals.
Zen Den is an open-sided space dedicated to wellness, offering massage, reflexology, treatments, yoga, meditation and reiki. Sun and Surf offers kitesurfing courses, as well as windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding, foiling, wakeboarding, knee boarding and water skiing. Kilindini Dhow is available for short and overnight cruises around the Lamu Archipelago. The Beach Bar serves a range of cocktails.
