Savage Wilderness brought white-water rafting to Kenya in 1990, when the team made their first trip down the Athi River. Known for a wealth of adventure sports, Savage Wilderness is in spacious mature gardens on both sides of the river.
The 20 en-suite rooms are in 10 cottages. Each room has 2 or 3 beds, and a veranda overlooking the garden. There are also 2 bunk houses for school groups, and a large campsite with bathrooms and showers. There’s a bar with pool table, gift shop and communal kitchen. Shaded eating areas are dotted around the gardens with tables, chairs, BBQ and sink. A hanging bridge over the river joins the two sides of the grounds, and there’s a swimming pool on either side.
Adventure sports on site include white-water rafting, kayaking, SUP, ducky rafting, gravel biking, mountain biking, bungee jump, climbing wall, zip line and archery. Trips further afield include climbing and mountain biking expeditions to Suswa, Ngong Hills and Lukenya, and rock-climbing trips to Hells Gate and Mt Kenya. The team can tailor-make excursions such as fishing on Lake Turkana and climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. Team building events are on offer, as are community service days in local schools.
