Established in 2020, this new addition to the Governors’ portfolio expands their diverse array of wildlife locations and accommodation options. On the 50,000-acre Mugie Conservancy, Governors’ Mugie House offers vast landscapes and abundant wildlife.
The 9 stone cottages are made up of 5 cottages, 2 suites and 1 family cottage. All have luxurious décor, indulgent baths and sweeping views of Laikipia. The 2 suites have private plunge pools and the family cottage has a double and twin room, spacious lounge, wide veranda and plunge pool.
The main house has open log fires and lovely views. Meals can be served in the main house, by the pool and in the bush. The chef sources ingredients from the camp’s vegetable garden. The infinity pool is surrounded by shaded areas. Activities include day and night game drives.
Mugie Conservancy is a key wildlife route between the Laikipia plateau, the Mathews Ranges and Samburu. Wildlife includes rare northern species of Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe. The conservancy operates as a low-impact cattle ranch with the aim of preserving this ecosystem and the wildlife that lives in it. Mugie supports a number of conservation projects including the Cheetah and Wild Dog Project and Lion Landscapes.
