About Mutara Camp

The only camp in the 20,000-acre Mutara Conservancy, Mutara Camp is high on a cliff and has views that stretch across this untamed part of Laikipia.

The 15 en-suite tents are raised on wooden decks. All tents have 4-poster bed, handmade safari furniture, comfortable arm chairs, fully stocked minibars and verandas with views across the conservancy. The dining room and lounge face west, offering seamless views of the sunset over the conservancy. The infinity swimming pool is set into the rocks and has striking views.

Guests are welcome to do game drives in the conservancy; the camp’s guides are on hand to accompany them and there’s plenty of wildlife and bird life here. Other activities include guided bush walks, night drives, mountain biking and bird watching. Bush meals can be arranged. Mutara Dam offers boat trips and fishing. Visits to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Mt Kenya National Park and other conservancies of Laikipia are on offer. The camp can also organise helicopter trips over Laikipia, around Mt Kenya and to further reaches of Kenya.

The camp is managed by Jambo Chester Hotels; sister properties are Jahazi Resort in Watamu and Impala Ecolodge in Kisumu. Visits to all three can be arranged.
