About Beach Tower

On the beachfront of Manda Island, Beach Tower looks across the channel at the attractive whitewashed houses of Shela Village. Beach Tower is privately owned, built in Swahili style, and adorned with Swahili antiques and modern art.

There are 2 en-suite master bedrooms on the first floor, and 6 en-suite doubles on the ground floor. All rooms are spacious, have comfortable chairs or baraza seats, and are adorned with bookshelves, niches, lamps and other coastal artefacts. The resort also has an open lounge area, enclosed living room, kitchen, massage room, and indoor and outdoor dining areas. The rooftop makes a perfect star-gazing deck and the makuti thatched garden pavilion on the beachfront is ideal for relaxing or yoga.

Activities include dhow cruises, water skiing, wind surfing, sailing, snorkelling and fishing. Tennis courts are nearby; beauty treatments including manicure, pedicure and massage can be arranged. A cook is available, and babysitting can be arranged. Beach Tower has solar power, a back-up generator and Wifi.

Boats run frequently between Manda Island and Lamu Island. Lamu Old Town, on Lamu Island, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; highlights include Sultans Fort, Lamu Museum, German Postal Museum and strolls through the ancient alleys.
