About Tunusuru House

This imposing and lovely house is in Shela Village on Lamu Island. The house has white walls, traditional niches, spacious balconies, and a rooftop terrace. The house is one step back from the seafront.

The 5 en-suite bedrooms have built in double beds, lights set into the beds, low lighting in the walls, and plentiful cupboard space. The swimming pool, on the ground floor, has a terrace with dining table beside it.

The 1st floor has a large dining table, open balconies with views across the channel, and one bedroom. The 2nd and 3rd floors have two bedrooms each, and spacious balconies with views of the sea. The rooftop has views on all sides, and a bar and bathroom. The house is fully staffed, and the chef provides the food required by the guests, including Lamu’s famed seafood.

Activities include tours of Lamu Old Town, visits to Takwa Ruins, snorkelling at Manda Toto, and dhow cruises on the channel. Yoga sessions and spa treatments are available near the house. Lamu is famous for its history, selection of festivals including the Lamu Yoga Festival, and highly competitive dhow races.
