About Ilkeliani Camp

lkeliani is the name given to young Maasai warriors before they become Il Moran. To the Maasai, warriors represent strength, courage, wisdom and comradeship.

Ilkeliani camp was extensively refurbished, and reopened in 2021. The 8 en-suite spacious tented suites are raised on wooden platforms overlooking the Talek River; 2 share a living room and can be used for families or groups of friends. All tents have handcrafted furniture, flowing fabrics, subtle solar lighting and extensive verandas. Their bathrooms have showers that can be indoor or outdoor, and sustainable hot water systems. Meals can be served in the elegant dining room, on the veranda overlooking the Mara plains, or at several secluded locations around the camp. Picnics are available. The raised platform overlooking the river is ideal for yoga or sundowners. Nearby sister companies offer horse riding safaris and balloon flights.

Maasai guides share local knowledge on game drives, walks and visits to local Maasai villages. Ilkeliani Camp assists and involves local Maasai communities in conserving their wildlife and environment, and is dedicated to social development projects. The camp is eco-friendly, and aims to preserve the environment and stay as close as possible to nature.
