Berthold Kempinski, of Poland, established the Kempinski Group in Geneva in 1897; it now has a collection of 76 5-star hotels in 31 countries. Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group is known for establishing hotels around the world in historic buildings and with avant-garde architecture. In 2013, the Kempinski Group opened Olare Mara Kempinski in the lovely Olare Motorogi Conservancy on the fringes of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
The 12 deluxe en-suite tents are all raised on wooden platforms and have bedroom, living room and 2-sided veranda; their bathrooms have bath and shower. All tents are furnished in opulent style with antique chest, writing desk, hair dryer, charger, safe, coffee machine and night spot light. The honeymoon suite is more spacious and has an extended living area. The dining room is open-sided and candle-lit, and connected to the forest bar by a wooden bridge. Activities include day and night game drives, guided nature walks, bush dining, and sundowners with a view. Balloon flights and horse-riding safaris can be arranged.
Olare Motorogi Conservancy is committed to fusing conservation, community and tourism. During their stay visitors can visit the Maa Trust which works with the Maasai people to preserve the Maasai Mara ecosystem.
