About Saruni

Set in Mara North Conservancy bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Saruni is a deluxe, design lodge. Based on a close partnership with the local community and built to ecological standards, Saruni entwines old traditions of classic safaris with modern technology.

The 6 uniquely styled cottages are furnished with colonial antiques, Persian carpets and African art, while the en-suite bathrooms include eco-loos and beautifully crafted basins and showers. The verandas have sunbeds and hammocks overlooking the plains and the passing game. Food is served at the main table in Kuro House or in the privacy of the guests’ cottage. The Maasai Well-Being Space is a private treatment cottage where guests can enjoy massages and treatments while watching bushbuck and elephant stroll past. Run in collaboration with Grand Hotel des Iles Borromes, the space combines sophisticated methods with ancient Maasai wisdom.

Activities include game drives in both Mara North Conservancy and the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The camp also offers game walks that introduce guests to bush skills. Ecotourism Kenya awarded Saruni a prestigious gold award.

Saruni also offers drawing safaris for guests wishing to spend a few days painting in spectacular scenery with a professional artist, and Warrior for a Week programmes for guests interested in animal tracking and bush craft.

Saruni Wild, a private tented camp owned and managed by Saruni, is 10km from Saruni. The camp was previously known as Campi ya Tembo. It is located in a wild scenic valley, familiarly known as secret valley, near the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
