The newly refurbished Castle Royal Hotel is situated in Mombasa town centre, only 10 minutes from the historic site of Mombasa Old Town and the world famous Fort Jesus. The island of Mombasa is known in Swahili as Kisiwa ya Mvita, which means Island of War, due to the many changes in its ownership through its long and eventful history.

There are 68 rooms on 4 floors, made up of 53 doubles, 5 twins, 4 triples and 6 singles. All rooms are en-suite and are fitted with high speed internet, electric door locks, electric safes, aircon, satellite TV, ultraviolet retardant windows and sound proofing. The hotel has a coffee bar, the long bar and a restaurant with an extensive international menu. The new veranda is a scenic place to enjoy a drink. A band plays every Friday. The conference facilities consist of Mvita which holds 40 pax, Miji Kenya which holds 120, Lamu which holds 40 and Kilindini which holds 200. The hotel can arrange visits to nearby sites such as Fort Jesus, the Gedi Ruins, Haller Park, Mamba Village and the many marine parks. It can also organize water sports and fishing expeditions on either the north coast or the south coast. Castle Royal is part of the Sentrim group of hotels.
