Club Rio is known for its vibrant nightspots, Calypso Bar and Calypso Club. The hotel rises up over a cluster of shops including a clothes shop, bookshop, stationery shop and a cyber café. Club Rio’s reception is open 24-hours.

There are 52 en-suite rooms, 30 of which have satellite TV. All the rooms are equipped with fan and mosquito net. The restaurant serves a selection of international dishes, including honey chicken, sheesh kebab, grilled jumbo prawns and nyama choma grilled meats. There is also a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches.

Calypso Bar, complete with bright lights, pink chairs and disco ball, is well stocked with soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits, and also has a selection of cocktails. Every night has a theme: Monday is rhumba nite, Tuesday is karaoke and Friday is live music. The bar has a number of large screens and shows international sports matches. Upcoming matches are written on a board outside the hotel. Calypso Club, on the 2nd floor, is a nightclub with DJ and dance floor, that goes through the night. Club Rio is situated behind the GPO, and is convenient for all the shops, businesses, restaurants and bars of Mombasa.
