About House of Waine

The boutique hotel, House of Waine, is in Karen, the leafy suburb of Nairobi that takes its name from Karen Blixen of Out of Africa fame, who lived here from 1913 to 1931. A large colonial mansion set in sculptured gardens, House of Waine is less that 2km from Karen Blixen’s house, which is now a museum.

There are 11 en-suite rooms on 2 floors, each elegantly furnished to reflect their individual themes. All the rooms have direct dial telephones, internet, minibars and satellite TV, and 9 have separate bath and shower, request on booking if required.

Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea are served on the terrace or in the garden, while dinner is served in the dining room to the accompaniment of Afro Jazz. The cuisine is all made from the freshest ingredients, and meals are treated as a culinary experience. The lounge and the pool bar serve drinks throughout. The fully equipped conference room seats 20.
