Kitengela Hot Glass is renowned in Kenya for its innovative and colourful hand-blown glass. Founded in the early 1990s by Anselm Croze, the place is a wonderland of lustrous statues, chandeliers, tableware, and jewellery. The factory with its flaming furnaces, and adjoining shop and café, have long been a favourite day out for Nairobi’s residents and visitors, who also stay for the night – or the week.
Bush Willow, named for its rare Bush Willow tree, is a chic 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage. The open-plan sitting room, bedroom and kitchen have whitewashed walls inset with ornamental Kitengela glass; the sitting room has sofas, armchairs and fireplace, and white floors dotted with woven rugs.
Soap House is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage, with open-plan sitting room and kitchen. The house has whitewashed walls, stone floors, bright rugs, and white sofas with colourful cushions. The house also has an indoor gym.
Ole Chalet is a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom house with a peaked makuti thatched roof in country style. The house has open fire, bookshelves dotted with glass ornaments, and colourful rugs and tablecloths.
All cottages have fully equipped kitchens, spacious verandas and mature gardens with complete privacy. They also have electric fence, backup generator and borehole water.
