About Ampoja Beach House

On the secluded Che Shale Beach, Ampoja House is a family-owned beach house surrounded by coconut palms and other indigenous plants. The house is named for the three daughters of the family: Amber, Poppy and Jade. The family has been in Kenya for three generations; the building started in 2015 and the house was completed in 2018. Built from locally sourced materials, and designed by the family, it suits families or groups of friends.

The 5 en-suite double bedrooms all open onto the sea. Each spacious bedroom can accommodate an extra bed, and has a walk-in wardrobe. There’s an open kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area, and a large family space. There’s also a roof terrace with makuti thatched shading and a swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds. The team of staff includes manager and chef. Home crafted meals can be designed to all dietary requirements, and can be served at the dining area, on the roof terrace, by the pool or on the beach. Tunusuru, a reconditioned dhow, sits at the end of the boardwalk.

As well as long walks down the secluded beach – with or without Tana the dog – and swims in the clear seas, activities include SUP and other water sports.
