The sister of welcoming Nairobi homestay, Hob House, opened in 2020 in Watamu. The name Hob was chosen because it means love in Arabic and infers the centre of the home in English. Founders Kelly and Peter opened Hob House in Nairobi in 2015 with the aim to promote intercultural exchanges, tasty food and healthy living.
There is 1 en-suite double bedroom and 1 double and 1 single bedroom that share a bathroom. There are 3 swimming pools, 1 for children and 2 for adults both with gorgeous views. The team of staff speaks English, Italian and Swahili. They are on hand to help with cleaning, cooking and other household tasks. The house is a short drive from the shops in Watamu.
The breezy penthouse on the rooftop, with thatched makuti roof, is a good place to relax. The theme with white fabrics and cushions is coastal and relaxed. The restaurant serves Levantine cuisine, and chef Kelly’s cooking has been compared to Ottolenghi. The dishes are predominantly vegetarian, with a few meat and fish dishes, and the ingredients are grown organically on site or sourced locally. No alcohol is served, but guests are welcome to bring their own.
