Four Twenty South is named for its latitude, since at the time it was built there was nothing on the site to locate it. This delightful collection of beachfront cottages was built in the 1950s, and has been run by the same family since 1966.
There are 6 well-spaced cottages in palm fringed gardens facing the beach. The cottages have 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room and veranda. They are elegantly furnished with solid wooden furniture, cream linens and ornamental lamps. Each cottage is comprehensively equipped, down to the beach towels, and staffed by a maid and chef. The kitchens are fully equipped, including condiments like spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The rooms are cooled by fans, and have games such as scrabble, chess and backgammon. Mobile telephone line and internet connection are available on request. Waste is disposed of responsibly, and food waste is composted for the lush gardens.
The cottages recreate the era in which they were established. There is no aircon, swimming pool or television. Fresh fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables are brought to the door by local vendors. Guests make their own timetables and create their menus with their private chef.
