About Kipalo Hills
Established in 2012, Kipalo Hills has lovely views of Mbulia Hills, Tsavo National Park and, on a clear day, Mt Kilimanjaro. Meaning ‘a special place one returns to again and again’, Kipalo is just that. The only camp in Mbulia Conservancy, Kipalo offers peace, privacy and plentiful wildlife.
The 8 en-suite tents can be twins or doubles, and have space for an extra bed. The tents are elegantly adorned with cream drapes and beaded decorations; their bathrooms have safari showers. Meals are fresh and innovative, and can be eaten in the open mess area, in the guests’ tents, by the pool or in the bush. The swimming pool, set in natural rocks, has sweeping views of the rocky outcrops and red earth of Tsavo.
Activities include game drives in the conservancy and in Tsavo West National Park. Game walks, night drives and bird watching are offered in the conservancy and Ngulia Hills. Fly camping on the Galana and Tsavo Rivers, and visits to the First World War sites, are also on offer.
The 12,000-acre Mbulia Conservancy was established in collaboration with the elders of the area to benefit the local community and wildlife. Almost all the staff are from the local area.
