Tsavo Conservancy is an important migration corridor between Tsavo East and Tsavo West, enabling animals to roam freely between the two national parks. The conservancy comprises 7 group ranches, giving the area improved conservation management and increased job opportunities for the local communities.
Kivuli Camp, in the Tsavo Conservancy, has 16 traditional bandas, made up of en-suite rooms, family bandas with 2 rooms and a bathroom, and dormitory bandas with 4 bunk beds in each. Kudu campsite has communal bathrooms and showers. Ndovu House has 4 en-suite double rooms, a large open dining area, an upstairs lounge with views across the conservancy, an open kitchen with fridge, freezer and gas cooker, and an outside bar with fire-pit. The house can be taken full board, or a cook can be hired.
Tsavo Discovery Centre, at the camp, has an orientation centre, study room, library and laboratory with informative displays on community conservation and environmental education. Wildlife Works, also in Tsavo Conservancy, is part of the ground-breaking REDD+ project that reduces emissions from deforestation by setting a financial value on the carbon stored in forests. The organisation has an eco-factory producing clothes, an eco-charcoal project, and an array of jobs in education, agriculture, conservation and tourism.
