‘You cannot create peace in the world until you first create peace within yourself’
With this bit of wisdom, Professor Abdul Aziz Said joined Amanda’s journey into yoga with her studies of Peace and Conflict Resolution as he taught her the power of meditation and spirituality. Since then, Amanda practices and teaches yoga holistically. She has studied yoga through more than 1,000 hours of teacher training, over eight years of teaching yoga, and continued personal practice and study.
Amanda’s journey into yoga started as a competitive athlete, seeking to heal a knee injury caused by imbalanced muscles, which led her to study under renowned yoga teachers and physiotherapists Simon Borg-Olivier and Bianca Machliss, the founders of the Yoga Synergy School. Yoga Synergy adapts yoga movements safely to the modern body through precise cues to activate muscles, as well as balanced and active stretching. As a certified Level 4 Yoga Synergy teacher (810 hours), certified Yoga for Sports Coach, and certified Reiki Healer, Amanda passes this deep knowledge and understanding of applied anatomy and physiology to her students to create deeper body/mind connection, helping them master poses safely and cultivating a profound sense of body awareness. Such awareness allows for a smooth transition into the deeper breathing and meditative practices of yoga.
Amanda’s students are of every skill level, from people just starting their yoga journey to advanced dedicated yogis. She teaches creative and fun vinyasa flows that intertwine all aspects of yoga including healing breathing practices, meditation, philosophy and mindfulness techniques that help ease the stress of daily life. Amanda welcomes all purposes and motivations for coming to yoga – be it to exercise, heal an injury, improve strength and flexibility, reduce stress, enhance mental focus and clarity, promote general mental and physical wellbeing, or find deeper meaning in life. Whatever her student’s approach, Amanda teaches for her students to leave her class feeling balanced, grounded and more at ease in body and mind.
Amanda also holds a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 Certification as a Yoga Teacher Trainer, and organises YTTs and yoga retreats.
