Yogi | Rachana Amlani

Rachana found yoga when she started to focus on her health and wellness as a whole. She tried many movement-based modalities and yoga was the one that stuck. She explored various styles over more than eight years – hatha, power, dharma yoga, kundalini, ashtanga, and even aerial yoga but it wasn’t until she discovered meditation, vinyasa flows and yin yoga that she found her calling. Discovering she was hypermobile changed her perspective and mindset on health and physical movement, and learning that every body is unique is something she is mindful of in each session, whether in a group setting or a one-on-one private session, and she tries to approach a balance between effort and surrender, ease and balance.

As she dove deeper into the yogic philosophy and incorporated yoga as a way of life for inner peace and healing, she passionately embarked on over 300 hours of training. She is now certified in vinyasa, yin yoga and meditation, with elements of trauma sensitive training, and is currently diving deeper into Yoga Nidra. She holds space for you with a soulful and functional approach to class – including meditations, breathing, and purpose-based movement, infusing yogic philosophy and mindfulness within, and this is themed in every one of her classes in a fun and creative way.

She reminds us that yoga teaches us to come back to ourselves, sit still within and find a sense of peace and balance as we go forwards in life.

Rachana is also a certified Reiki II practitioner, having found this beautiful and spiritual ancient Japanese healing art beneficial in her own life. She decided to share this practice as a form of alternate healing for those looking for a holistic approach by connecting with their own healing energy to promote inner balance and harmony. Reiki comes from the word Rei, meaning Universal life, and Ki, meaning energy. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. All living beings have this life force energy running through them and as a Reiki practitioner, Rachana understands that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves.

Rachana loves the fact that yoga in all its various facets and modalities is for every single person, regardless of their journey in life. Being able to hold space in yoga class and through Reiki sessions as people come as they are, reflect on their inner selves, find space to be a little more at peace, and to watch them taking their yoga off the mats too is a joy and a gift that keeps on giving!
