About Salt Lick Game Lodge
Salt Lick Game Lodge is a unique architectural concept consisting of 96 distinctive oval-shaped rooms overlooking a waterhole and salt lick. These special constructions, elevated on stilts, give uninterrupted views of animals in close proximity. Suspended walkways, a tunnel with bunker and special windows ensure close-up viewing of game at the floodlit waterhole at night.
There are 96 rooms on 2 floors, made up of 49 twin, 32 double and 15 triples. All the rooms are en-suite, and have mosquito nets and electric fans. Bura Restaurant serves international and local cuisine for breakfast and dinner. Vuria Bar and Lounge, a shaded terrace bar overlooking the main waterhole, is open for snacks and drinks from 10am to 11pm. Special meals and functions such as bush breakfast, barbeque lunch or Out of Africa dinner can be arranged at Kudu viewpoint or elsewhere in the sanctuary.
The lodge is in Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a privately-owned conservation area adjacent to Tsavo West National Park. Day and night game drives give guests the opportunity to view the sanctuary’s 50 species of mammal and over 300 species of birdlife. Wildlife talks are available on request. Sarova Hotels has a loyalty programme called Zawadi.
