About Samburu Game Lodge
One of Kenya’s original game lodges, Samburu Game Lodge was established in 1962. This traditional safari lodge is strung out along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.
The 61 en-suite rooms are made up of standard rooms, river rooms, junior suites and cottages. The standard rooms are near the swimming pool and main lodge; some have interconnecting rooms for families. The river rooms have 4-poster beds and verandas overlooking the river. The junior suites are more spacious and have riverfront balcony, dressing room and bathroom with bath and shower. The cottages have stone floors and thatched roofs and offer more privacy for families or groups.
The restaurant offers a buffet and views of the river. Crocodile Bar, on the riverbanks, overlooks the site of the daily crocodile feeding. Vulturine Bar, perched amongst the trees, has views over the river and makes an ideal place to enjoy a sundowner. The pool bar, overlooking the swimming pool, serves drinks and snacks. The raised spa offers a selection of massage, manicure and pedicure, and has views over the reserve.
Activities include morning and evening game drives, and nature walks that specialise in the prolific birdlife. Samburu Game Lodge holds Ecotourism Kenya’s silver award.
