Tawi Lodge is located on a private conservancy of 6,000 acres at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro. This community-run conservancy, together with African Wildlife Foundation, promotes and maintains development and interaction between wildlife and the Maasai people along the corridor between Amboseli and the Chyulu Hills. The lodge is an eco-friendly operation, which believes in taking care of the environment and its people. Tawi Lodge has a prestigious gold award from Ecotourism Kenya.
The 12 en-suite cottages, made up of doubles and twins, combine traditional African style with the modern facilities required by visitors today. All have fabulous views of Mt Kilimanjaro from their wooden deck verandas, their beds and even their bathtubs. Fireplaces and minibars are provided, as well as a butler service.
The lodge has a unique bio-pool and a relaxing massage area. It also has a reception, bars, dining area, library, shop and a cellar with a selection of fine wines. The campfire and bush bar are ideal for enjoying the sounds of the bush at the end of the day.
Over 400 species of birds have been recorded on the conservancy. Game drives, night drives and bush meals are all on offer, and visits to Amboseli National Park, only 5 minutes from the lodge, are also available.
