Lolldaiga Hills include the highest peak in Laikipia and provide stunning views and diverse scenery. The 50,000-acre Lolldaiga Hills Ranch has a wide variety of vegetation, including dry savannah, open woodlands and high altitude forest. The ranch is a working cattle ranch, in which people, livestock and wildlife coexist.
The Lolldaiga Hills Ranch House is a cedar log building originally built as the manager’s house in the 1960s. It has 2 en-suite double rooms and an open plan sitting and dining room with redbrick fireplace. There is a cottage with en-suite double room and fireplace, and a smaller cottage with en-suite twin room. The garden’s jasmine and citrus attract plentiful birdlife. The farm also has a tennis court and a campsite. Game drives and game walks in the ranch are on offer. About 60 species of wildlife and 300 species of birdlife have been recorded here. The ridges and valleys of Lolldaiga Hills provide challenging and spectacular hikes. For a surcharge, camel riding and mountain biking are available.
Nearby archaeological sites include 2 Stone Age rock shelters, rock art and ancient pottery. Guests are welcome to participate in livestock husbandry; the ranch has Merino and Dorper sheep, a pedigree herd of Boran cattle and British Red Poll cattle. The Lolldaiga Institute works towards conservation, community development and responsible livestock production.
