About Kizingo

Set on a secluded 12km beach in the south of Lamu Island, Kizingo styles itself a no shoes, no news resort. Committed to the conservation of the environment, Kizingo has been constructed from local materials.

There are 8 well spaced en-suite bandas. Each banda has a high thatched roof to maximise the breeze, and is furnished with large double bed and comfortable chairs, and adorned with local fabrics. Kasuku Bar and Restaurant has an international menu, and specialises in seafood including red snapper, crab and lobster, with locally-grown vegetables. The bar has a selection of wines from South Africa, Chile and Italy, as well as cocktails.

Activities include snorkelling, fishing, kayaking, dhow boat trips and swimming with dolphins in season. Bush walks, beach walks, guided bicycle rides and tours of Lamu Old Town are also on offer, and guests are welcome to visit local villages. Kizingo is committed to conservation and ecologically sound practises. The bandas use solar power and eco-loos. Food waste is composted and grey water is recycled to the garden. Kizingo has initiated a turtle conservation project, a tree planting project and Kipungani School Trust. Guests are welcome to visit and participate in all these projects.
