Yoga Events and Happenings | Lamu Yoga Festival 2024

Lamu Island with its tropical climate, excellent variety in accommodation to fit your budget, miles of empty beaches and car free sandy roads, is the ideal destination to relax and leave behind life’s stressfulness. The fresh seafood, organic foods and the warm welcome of the Swahili people make it the perfect wellness getaway. Inspired by Lamu, chairlady Monika Fauth started Lamu Yoga, a community based organisation that hosts the Lamu Yoga festival on the pristine Muslim Island.

Registration is from 10am on Wednesday 25th October, followed by yoga at 3pm and the welcome ceremony at 5pm.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are full days of yoga, workshops and activities, starting with early bird yoga at 6.30am. On Thursday evening, there’s a dune walk and meditation followed by Swahili dinner. On Friday evening, there’s a mangrove swim and dhow cruise, followed by dance, satsang and sound healing. On Saturday evening, there’s a sunset dhow cruise followed by a celebration around the bonfire with DJs playing.

On Sunday, the closing ceremony is at 9am.

    About The Region

    Lamu

    Lamu

Made up of a collection of idyllic islands at the northern end of Kenya’s coastline, the Lamu Archipelago is living history. The Old Town’s narrow alleys, Arabic architecture, fort and mosques speak of age old culture, while the surrounding beaches and reefs sparkle in today’s sunshine.
