Yogi | Catherine Njeri

Catherine is from Nairobi. She is the Director of Teachers, Lead Teacher and Workshop Leader at Africa Yoga Project. She’s a certified Africa Yoga Project and Baptiste yoga teacher, having completed levels I, II and III Baptiste yoga teacher training and FIT to lead training with the Baptiste Institute. Catherine has been teaching and practicing yoga since 2009; her passion to create world class wellbeing leaders comes from her personal experience of how yoga changed her life. She witnesses daily how yoga has an impact on the overall wellbeing of her students and encourages a healthy lifestyle.

Catherine is 500 Hours RYT certified with Yoga Alliance. She leads 200-hour Yoga Teacher trainings. She’s the first Kenyan woman to lead a 200-hour yoga teacher training in Africa and is a co-facilitator of this training annually in Nairobi with the Africa Yoga Project. She has also led this training in Uganda and Egypt. Creating yoga teachers and teaching yoga is Catherine’s full-time job and it gives her fulfilment and purpose in her life. She teaches private clients, group yoga sessions, yoga at workspace, yoga for team building, corporate yoga, yoga retreats and festivals. She owns a pop-up yoga studio at Prestige Plaza on Ngong Road with her partner Patrick. Catherine has led yoga retreats in Nairobi and Watamu.

When she isn’t travelling and teaching yoga or leading trainings, Catherine is a proud mum to a little girl. She also enjoys braiding her daughter’s and friends’ hair.
